Uttaran is a holistic gender-affirming clinic in Durgapur. Everything you may need, planned together by one team, under one roof.
Confidential. Unhurried. Nothing here commits you to anything.
Counselling and psychology, hormone care, and medico-legal support for your documents.
Plastic and reconstructive surgery, gynecology, and general and laparoscopic surgery.
Physiotherapy to help you heal well, and voice therapy so your voice feels like your own.
Uttaran is a dedicated wing of Akruti Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery Clinic in Durgapur, built so that you are not left coordinating specialists across different cities on your own.
Surgery is one part of a longer path, and it is the part we talk about last, not first. In this short film, Dr Kaushal Priya Anand, our plastic and reconstructive surgeon, explains what to expect, what you are free to ask, and why nothing moves forward until you decide it should.
Every person's path is different. You may take some of these steps, all of them, or follow a different order. We explain each step before you decide.
An unhurried first conversation with a clinical psychologist about who you are, what you want, and what support would help.
If you want it, an endocrinologist explains what hormone therapy does, how it is monitored, and what to expect over time.
Help with the medical documentation needed for legal recognition of your gender, so you are not chasing forms alone.
Gender-affirming surgery, explained in plain words first: what it involves, recovery, risks, and your options.
Guided physiotherapy to help you heal safely and get back to everyday life at a pace that suits your body.
Voice and communication training for people who want their voice to feel more like their own.
You can pause or stop at any point.
You may want one, several or none. Your surgeon explains what each involves, who it can suit, how recovery goes and what the risks are before you decide anything.
For people who want a chest that feels right for them.
Surgery to align your body with your gender, planned collaboratively with our plastic surgeons, gynecologist, and general surgeon.
For people who want their face and voice to feel more like their own.
Nothing is booked at a first conversation.
Each specialist has their own part in your path. Here is how each of them works, in their own words.
You set the pace. I listen first.
I have spent ten years listening to children, teenagers and their families, and what I have learnt is that most people want to be heard before anything else. At Uttaran, you do not need the right words, or to know what you want from our sessions. We start where you are. We can talk about stress, anxiety, low mood, anger, or the pressure you feel from the people around you. I also offer parental counselling, for parents who want to understand, listen and support their child well. There is no checklist and no hurry. You set the pace, and I will walk it with you.
Tama Hossain Clinical & Counselling Psychologist Child, Adolescent & Adult Mental Health TherapistEvery plan is built around your body and your goals.
Before anything starts, I explain what each hormone option does, which changes to expect and how long they can take. We begin slowly, check your blood tests and health regularly, and adjust the plan together.
[Name] EndocrinologistEvery decision about your pelvic health is taken at your pace, with total dignity.
For transmasculine people, I support your reproductive and pelvic health before and after surgery. That includes keyhole (laparoscopic) hysterectomy, removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes, and coordination with your plastic surgeon for later surgery. I also guide you through what comes first: a mental health assessment letter, informed consent, a hormone review with your endocrinologist, and a conversation about fertility preservation, such as egg freezing. Every examination is gentle and on your terms.
[Name] Consultant Gynecologist & Laparoscopic SurgeonSafety begins long before the operation and lasts until you have healed.
I work alongside our plastic surgeon and gynecologist on keyhole (laparoscopic) access and tissue preparation for reconstructive surgery. Before any operation, I check your general fitness and medical history and explain what to expect. Afterwards, we manage your wounds and recovery together with our physiotherapist.
[Name] Consultant General & Minimal Access SurgeonPaperwork should never be the hard part.
I take you through the documents needed for legal recognition of your gender: what each one is, who signs it and by when, in plain words. If a form is confusing, bring it to me.
[Name] Medico-legal advisorHealing is stronger when it is gradual.
Where it helps, we start before surgery and continue after it. I guide you through movements that protect your healing and build strength step by step, at a pace your body is comfortable with.
[Name] PhysiotherapistYour voice should sound like you.
We look at pitch, resonance and the way you speak, then practise in short, regular sessions. I measure progress by how you feel about your voice, not by a number.
[Name] Voice specialistGood care is as much about how you are treated as what is done. These are our commitments.
We use the name and pronouns you give us, in person, in writing and on every record.
Your details are shared only with the specialists on your care team, and only with your consent.
No pressure and no deadlines. Take the time you need before any decision.
Every term, step and cost is explained in everyday language, in Bengali, Hindi or English.
If yours is not here, ask us. No question is too small.
No. Gender-affirming care looks different for everyone. Some people want counselling and hormone care, some want surgery, some want only support with documentation or voice. We help with what you choose.
Chest surgery (top surgery and augmentation), genital surgery, gender-affirming hysterectomy and oophorectomy (supported by our gynecology team), collaborative general laparoscopic procedures, and facial and voice procedures. Your surgical team explains each option in plain words, and you only discuss the ones you are interested in.
It depends on the procedure and on what you want. Some people choose hormone therapy before surgery and some do not. Your care team explains how it can affect your options so you can decide with full information.
For procedures like laparoscopic hysterectomy or oophorectomy, requirements generally include a supportive mental health assessment letter, informed consent, and medical/surgical fitness clearance following WPATH guidelines. Hormone therapy (testosterone) is common but can be tailored to individual needs. We also discuss fertility preservation (such as egg freezing) beforehand so you have complete freedom to choose what is right for your future.
It varies by procedure and by person. Your surgeon gives you an honest estimate before you decide, and our physiotherapy team supports you while you heal.
Every surgery has risks. We explain the ones that apply to you, and what we do to reduce them, before you decide. You are never asked to decide on the day.
We give you a clear, written estimate before you decide, so there are no surprises. Ask about it in your first conversation.
Yes. Your details are shared only with the specialists on your care team, and only with your consent. You decide who else, if anyone, is told.
Of course. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to any conversation, or to come alone.
Send us a message below, or call. We will reply in your preferred language and set up a private, unhurried first conversation. There is no obligation to continue.
Tell us how you would like us to reach you. We will reply on WhatsApp or by phone, whichever you prefer, and everything you share stays between you and your care team.
